A terminal that keeps an eye on your agents.
Coastty is a terminal emulator for macOS that lets you see which of your AI coding agents are working and which are waiting for you. It is free and open source.

Click an agent that needs your attention.
Group your tabs into Spaces.
A Space is a group of tabs. Jump between Spaces with ⌃⇧1 to ⌃⇧9, or click one in the sidebar. Drag them into the order you want. Each Space shows the state of its most urgent agent, so you can tell which one needs you.
Your agents carry on after you quit the app.
Every Space, tab and pane runs in coastty-host, a small daemon bundled with the app. Reopen Coastty and every terminal picks up where it left off, screen and scrollback included.
- You quit Coastty. Three agents are halfway through their work.
- coastty-host keeps going. One agent finishes. Another stops at a permission prompt and waits.
- You open it again. Every pane is where you left it, and the sidebar shows which agents need you.
Restarting or shutting down your Mac ends the processes that were running. Your Spaces and tabs come back, and each shell starts again in the directory it was in.
Let your agents arrange your tabs.
Coastty has terminal commands to navigate and arrange your Spaces and tabs. They change the layout and nothing else: no command can type into a pane or read what it shows.

Coastty works with every Ghostty theme, and the sidebar takes its colours from the one you choose. It is one line in your config.

Rendering, terminal emulation, the configuration format and Ghostty's keybindings all come from Ghostty, so its documentation applies. Coastty keeps its own config and leaves Ghostty's alone.
